Youth Peer Support Specialist

This position (YPSS) will act as a support and resource for youth with serious emotional disturbances (SED) who are receiving services in the behavioral health system. The YPSS will act as a key member of the treatment team by working with youth one on one or in group, supporting them in achieving goals through shared activities and interventions. YPSS will support youth empowerment by assisting youth in developing skills to improve their overall functioning and quality of life and working collaboratively with others involved in delivering the youth’s care.

COMPENSATION – Up to 20 hours per week - $12.70 to $15.63 per hour based on experience.

QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or equivalent. Must be between the ages of 18 through 26. Must be willing to self- identify as a person who has or is receiving mental health services as a youth and has lived experience.

Valid Michigan driver’s license required.

 

 

Peer Recovery Coach

This position is grant funded through the State Opioid Response (SOR) funds. This position is specific to working with individuals with an Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) who are, or will be receiving treatment for their OUD through Hamilton Community Health Network (HCHN) Clinic located in the Lapeer County CMH Building. This may also include working with individuals who are dually diagnosed with a mental health and substance use disorder who are receiving services with both the FQHC and Community Mental Health. This position performs a variety of direct service and support providing the unique perspective and understanding of someone with lived experience and understanding of substance use disorders. COMPENSATION – Up to 20 hours per week - $12.70 to $15.63 per hour based on experience.

QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the guiding principles of recovery that assist individuals to improve their health and wellness. Experience working with, or within a Community Mental Health Agency or a Substance Use Disorder provider agency with preference toward individuals with direct SUD coaching experience. Must have at minimum the CCAR and/or other approved training be a certified Recovery Coach. Must be a person with lived experience with a Substance Use Disorder. Preference given to someone who has a history of Opioid Use Disorder Recovery.
